Review: Hair & Me Hair Rejuvination Treatment (ft Movie Rant)

Fantastic 4 hit the big screens a few weeks ago and was literally trampled by viewers and critics. The amount of negative criticism was overwhelming, I entered the cinema expecting rubbish. However, deep down, I knew it cannot get worse than DC's Green Lantern and I quite disliked the previous Fantastic Four movies with Jessica Alba etc

[SOMEWHAT MINOR SPOILER ALERT]

I personally felt that the reboot wasn't THAT bad, yes, it was bad, but I was still able to sit through it. The acting was poor and there were plot holes, but I preferred the plot to this re-boot than the original storyline. There was a lot of public outrage as the film made some significant deviations from the original comic - but I like the idea that the 4 teleported to an alternate universe and obtained their "powers" rather than powers gained from explosive outer-space cosmic rays in the previous movie. There were countless complaints about Dr Doom, I personally don't have any beef with his appearance, as long as his in a green cape and his face is all mangled with metal, it's fine. The characters were quite detached and not exactly lovable... this movie wasn't great but I still preferred this to the previous Fantastic Four movies. The reviews were so bad that they pulled out from making a sequel reboot. All Marvel movie fans know that you gotta sit through the credits for a preview... well, there were none for this movie.. which is probably a good thing..

Ingredients and ethics

My Verdict

I'll start off by saying that I am not a hair person, I wash my hair every 2nd or third day and recently gotten over my laziness and started to conditioning. I will brag, my is naturally healthy and low maintenance so I don't use a lot of hair treatment or products. However, my fly away has always been an issue.

Shower time is precious, doing a full body scrub, exfoliating my face, shampoo and conditioning takes a long time, and I do not wish to add additional unnecessary time in the shower. I've put off using Hair & Me so many times because of the procedure that I was required to follow.

It's still cold... and I can't stand in front of the heater for 45 minutes.. and shampoo twice!? Nooooooo

But I decided to finally put the product to test last weekend, I thought to myself... it better do amazing things to my hair.

AND IT DID

My fly aways no longer flew and was reduced by at least 60%. My hair felt nice and silky, dry scalp was no more and most flakes were gone. I was shocked, this product is living up to it's reputation.
However, this will be a special occasion product for me, my weekly schedule is pretty crazy and I dislike having damp hair! If I have a special event to attend (i.e., birthdays, weddings etc) I will definitely use this product the day before to put my best hair forward.

Get Ready with Veet: Hairy Solutions

During winter, I liked to ensure to keep warm at all times, whether it means to wear more clothes, drink more hot chocolate or grow my hair out like a woolly mammoth. We finally caught some generous glimpse of sun in the past few weeks, so it's time to shed the fur!

My partner were I are due for a day out on the weekend, we thought we'd frock up as we plan to exit our caveman/woman dungeon to face civilisation. Thankfully Veet prepped us well!

Luckily, I don't have much to wax on my face and would usually just pluck a few stray eye brows here and there. My partner on the other hand, requires great attention to his brows.

Since it's still relatively chilly, we realised that rubbing the wax strips between our hands is inadequate, instead, we placed the strip an arm's length away from our little heater to help prep the wax. Application was simple and all the unwanted hair came out with ease.
For brow shaping, you can cut the strips into even smaller pieces. Once all the unwanted hair was out, the perfect finish wipes assisted with ridding any left over sticky residual and calmed the skin.

The last time I waxed my legs, I was a wee teenager at my friend's house, she thought it would be entertaining to wax my legs. I am not sure what she did, but I ended up with bruises all over my legs. I've been a shaver and a cream user ever since. This was 10 years ago. Last weekend, I decided it was finally time to face my fear.

These wax strips definitely had a good grip of all the hairs on my legs, I was overly enthusiastic and decided to cover my leg with wax strips, it was all fun and games until it was time to rip the strips off.

I can wax my arm pits with no issues and minor pain because I did it so often, my legs on the other hand, were quite sensitive due to a lack of hair being waxed in the past 10 years. I have to admit it was relatively painful for us non-frequent waxers.

However, once all the wax strips were off, my legs were silky smooth... the type of silky smooth that lasted for days and unable to be achieved from shaving. I will definitely turn to wax strips for quick and fault free hair removal.

After my waxing expedition, I felt that cream may suit me better until I become more accustom to the process of waxing. Waxing is definitely a faster and more time efficient solution. If I were going to an event the following day and had adequate amount of time to dance to the radio, cream would be an excellent option. It's gentle and washes off with ease.

Below is a short clip of the wax strips in action, I muted the sound and added the intro to Boys of Summer due to unnecessary screaming on my part. Having said that.. I'm still in awe as to how smooth my legs feel after 5 days! Sorry about the film quality... but you can see the colour difference when the wax strip was removed from my leg :)

Classic Neutral Eye Look with 3 Rimmel Products

I recently saw Ex Machina at the Govindas Cinema, it seemed to be a fairly underground and low key flick, I haven't seen any promotions nor has it been shown at mainstream cinemas.. which is a shame. "Deus Ex Machina" means "god from the machine" in latin, pronounced "ex-mack-ena". I made the mistake of yapping around telling everyone that I was going to see "Ex Machine-na" until I was kindly corrected.

If you enjoy a combination of sci-fi, thriller and artificial intelligence, then this movie is for you. [SPOILER ALERT] This movie explored themes such as morality, trust, creation, control and ethics among artificial intelligence, there's been a some criticism around it's compatibility with modern robotics - however, in order to enjoy the movie and experience what may potentially be a footprint of future robotics I'd suggest you to look past this. If this is what we are expecting in the next 30 or so years, the future is dark and eerie. With reproduction set a side... how different are we from robots who can generate their own thoughts anyway.

The female characters in Ex Machina had minimal makeup (yet remained absolutely gorgeous). So I thought I'd play around and came up with this very basic look with 3 products from my favourite Priceline brand.

The eyeliner and eyeshadow stick are both waterproof, it doesn't crease and it won't leave traces all over your lids.

I used Rimmel's Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick in 002 Bulletproof Beige all over my lids, it's smooth and easy to apply. A relatively bold wing with Rimmel's Exaggerate Eye Definer in 212 Rich Brown, this liner has a built in sponge smudger, I use the left over product on the smudger under my lower lash line. Once that's done, I curled my lahses and applied a generous coat of Rimmel's Wake Me Up Mascara (it smells like cucumbers!!!)

What's your favourite robot movie (if you have one)?
