RNS Update

I've been roaming around the Neurology and Orthopaedics wards.

Being seeing patients and lots of extra work to do outside of placement.... therefore my lack of update.

I'll be finishing my placement with Community - and doing lots of home visits/modifications.

And will be starting my second placement at Southcare next Monday - golly! Not used to this working life!

The Cheesecake Shop - Enchanted Forest Torte

My mother celebrated her XXth birthday.

We got her an Enchanted Forest Torte from the Cheesecake Shop... let me just say that we all agreed it was a good choice. This torte is slightly bigger in girth and taller than your regular tortes, it came in an XL cardboard box, that should explain it.

It's essentially a fluffy chocolate sponge, who layers of creme cheese and one layer of chocolate cream.
chocolate flakes on the side of the take.
White and dark chocolate tubes + artificial cherries (my sole dislike... I would have appreciate it much more if they used better chocolate. The white chocolate was a bit cardboard like). Nonetheless the cake is fresh, even though it was stored on display. Incredible!

RRP Approx $36.75

Royal North Shore Day 1 & 2

My two week placement at Royal North Shore Hospital commenced on January 21st.

I'm suppose to keep a journal detailing the clients I saw and the sessions I sat in, well... what better way than to blog it?

I skipped yesterday, so I'll just briefly detail what we did. Mind you, this is my first clinical placement.

Day 1

The first day was a full orientation day, me and two other students from uni. We had a few ice breakers, discussed our needs, models, expectations, tours etc...

We were each placed on a 2-day rotation program - so we move to a different department every 3rd day.

We were overwhelmed by the amount of extra work, clinical tasks, deadlines, documentation, presentation, interviews etc etc......... oh and the fact that the hospital is huge.

I went home feeling pretty nervous. But uhh... lets see how today went..

Day 2

Today I was in paediatrics. I sent the morning observing OTs screen three 5year olds on their fine and gross motor performance. It was relatively fast paced, they had to write a full report during screening. A very busy morning.

A staff meeting following lunch. Where I had a chance to see everyone in the department. I also met my supervisor for Community.

I spent half an hour writing a client case documentation after lunch. Then I went sat/participated in another assessment with a 4year old boy.

Bellabox January 2013 - We Love Australia!

Product information card and a Bellababy promotion card.

You Me and Everybody Cool it Aloe Vera Gel
100ml @ $8.95
FULL SIZE

I've received this brand from a previous Bellabox. This is probably the only product I'm excited about in this box.

Face of Australia Makeup Purifying Cleansing Wipes
25 wipes @ $4.95
FULL SIZE

My face is really sensitive, I've been using organic wipes and WOTNOT wipes. I might give this a go and see how my skin responds.

Mode Nail  Polish - Rave'n
15ml @ $2.45
FULL SIZE

This is the second nail polish I've received from BB since September and I really don't wear nail polish... I've indicated my preference for neutral/natural tones on my BB beauty profile... I'll give it a go though..

Swisse Body Wash with Vitamin B3 and Macrobiotic Sea Minerals
250ml @ $14.95
30ml @ $1.79

Another brand I've received not too long ago from BB....

Natio  BB cream Sample
50g @ $14.95
5g @ $1.49

I've previously received this exact sample for free on Natio's facebook.

Hedgehog Wall sticker -- this is cute.

Total Box Value -- $19.63

Overall, I'm disappointed with this box. Product and value wise. I could've gone out to Priceline and purchased products that I need using the $15.
I've been thoroughly impressed with my first two months of my subscription (September and October), then my boxes have been on a declining gradient... for example...glitter eyeliner (what I received) VS full size rosehip oil or eye cream with gold essence?? Anyone else noticed this?
I've realised that earlier batches holds lesser value and those who receive the later boxes receive high end brands such as Lancome, Bobbi Brown.... etc. If my theory is correct Jurlique will probably be in the later batches for this month. I'm disappointed in the lack of equal distribution, I'm sure most of us signed up to try new brands/products or products we can't afford. I'm beginning to slowly regret signing up for the year subscription. I will still give these products a try and see how they are quality wise. But hopefully, there will be a better mix of variety + high and low end brands for every box in the months to come.

Pie Face - Sydney CBD

I've been meaning to try the pie and Pie Face.

Hooray! I finally did.

I'm fairly accustomed to the conventional chopped up intestine pies from the frozen food section. It was to my ardent surprise to find REAL pieces of beef and REAL slices of mushrooms in my steak & mushroom pie. Oh and not to mention the crispy buttery pastry.

Steak and Mushroom Pie (additional 20c for a bottle of water or a can of coke) Adds up to approx $6
A pricy price for a pie, I think this might be an "occasional" thing.

Sushi on Morts - Mortdale

Sorry about the off-colour. This itouch is not much of a night buddy.

Pokka Lychee Black Tea Drink - $3

A hint of bitterness.

Vegetarian Box - Approx $12.60

Top left to right....
  • A bow of salad - cucumber, carrot, seaweed and lettuce
  • Teriyaki tofu steak
  • Vegetable sushi (DELICIOUS!)
  • Vegetable tempura - mainly sweet potato
  • Egg plant - I didn't like this too much, I thought it was overly oily and too sweet... I'd much prefer grilled eggplant.
I thought this was a fantastic box deal. I'll be revisiting.

ZenQ [Honey Toast] - Sydney CBD

***Picture heavy***

I went past this "ZenQ" a few times, I saw a picture of a cube of bread with a scoop of ice cream and placed a judgement..."These people are charging $16.80 for bit of bread and ice cream?! Idiots".

Well... I was wrong. Honey bread is the shit!

We got the Strawberry Lover, shared between two. $16.80

Crispy honey toast fingers in a bread basket.
Topped with strawberry ice cream, strawberries, custard, wafer sticks, strawberry sauce, a side of cream and a side of syrup.

It was delicious.... I'm DEFINITELY going back.

Alright, Here's a bunch of pictures....

Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder

Product Information:

This soft matte, silky-smooth bronzer instantly gives skin the look of a natural tan.

RRP $66 for 8g

Shade: Natural (1) - Medium Soft Tan

Ingredients:

Verdict:

I've been using the Bourjois bronzing powder, that stuff makes me look muddy.
When I saw the colour for this compact I freaked out a little.. but it pretty much does exactly as described. Creates a light natural tan (build-able). My skin is probably light - medium olive (especially now, during the summer), this colour suits me fine.

An excellent bronzer for contour. My Bourjois bronzer is going in the bin. This sleek compact with built in mirror is perfect for your bag.

The picture below is a display of the compact - please ignore the colour, my camera can't seem to get it right.

The picture below is close to the actual shade, a little lighter and a bit more woody brown.

I swatched the compact three time in the middle of my wrist followed by some light blending. As you can see it's very natural, it did a fantastic job highlighting the contours of my tendons!

Repurchase?
Probably, although I haven't tried many bronzers so I'd like to shop around a bit first.

Pancake on the Rocks - Again- Darling Harbour

I always find myself back at this place.

I've been consuming mainly carbs and other trans-fat meals as of late. So I thought I'd be good and order a Greek Salad.

Greek Salad - $9.95

Then I thought since I was so well behaved, I deserve an iced chocolate sundae with cream and ice cream..............

Coppenrath DIY Mini Profiteroles

That's pretty much what it looks like out of the packet. The chocolate sauce is in the packet

Here's a picture of the profiteroles with chocolate sauce

Creamy filling - mum made the mistake of putting them in the freezer again.
It tastes quite nice as an ice cream filling though. They were too irresistible, we ate all of it before the cream melted. High recommended!

Mae Moon Thai - Penshurst

 Coconut Drink - $3

Tofu, vegetable eggplant. mild - approx $12.90

Tofu, vegetable cashew nut with dried chilli - approx $12.90

Black sticky rice with mango -$6.90

Service was absolutely fantastic! Food was tasty as well. I enjoyed everything we ordered. Only critque is that the stick rice needs more of that milky topping!
Definitely would go back.
